The Portal of Motherhood
Feb 28, 2025
Motherhood asks so much of us—our bodies, our minds, our nervous systems, and our emotional presence. We give endlessly—our hearts, our souls, our thoughts and emotions—to our children, our partners, our loved ones. And on top of that, we carry the weight of daily life, business owning, the pressures of the world.
Some days, it feels like all we do is give, without a single thought for ourselves. Yet, the love we offer is profound. It heals, it sustains, it transforms. It is the strongest love there is, given without hesitation. This love changes worlds.
Motherhood is breathtakingly beautiful.
And it is also deeply complex.
Mornings and afternoons blur together. Evenings arrive, and we realize we haven’t had a moment to pause, to breathe, to ask, What do I need today?
The days slip by in a continuous cycle, leaving us in an unusual state—one where love expands our hearts, making life more vivid through our child’s eyes, yet where we also deeply miss ourselves.
We miss the spaciousness of solitude.
The simplicity of fewer responsibilities.
The long, uninterrupted stretches of introspection.
Motherhood asks us to rearrange everything—to place our needs in the backseat as we learn to hold another’s in our hands. And yet we brush against another dichotomy...
The longing for self-nourishment.
The deep love for the life created through us.
Motherhood is a journey of surrender, a surrender to the mystery of life. There is grief, but perhaps there is also an invitation—one that asks us to stretch even further, to hold both our dreams and our devotion in the same space. To find patience, presence, and a new kind of awareness—one that allows us to nourish our own hearts while nurturing another’s, all in a single breath.
And perhaps, yet again, we stand in awe of where this journey has brought us.
It invites us to soften in moments of confusion, to apply gentleness where once there was sharpness. Motherhood is a portal—one that leads us deeper into the feminine, into the sacred embodiment of life itself. A remembering of something the world has forgotten.
